Tip #186 - SmartAdvocate Case Summary Flags

Some case information can be indicated by “flags” displayed in the top section of the Case’s Summary Screen. These include the presence of Liens, Corporate Defendants, Co-Counsel, Member of a Master Case, Partially Settled Case, Serious Injuries, Client Portal Access, etc. A list of the current flags is included at the end of this article.

Flags can be edited by going to Admin > Picklist Maintenance > Case Summary Flags.

You can choose to have a flag displayed as text, an icon (predefined) or the flag can be turned “off” (i.e., the State can be set to icon, text or off). If the State is set to “off”, the flag will not display at all - even if the information is entered in the case. In essence, the presence of an appropriate flag is a quick visual que that the information exists in the case. You can also choose the color of each flag.

You define the order in which the flag(s) appear on the Summary Screen. For example, if the Liens Flag is set at order number 100 and the Bankruptcy Flag is set at order number 120, and there are both liens and bankruptcies in the case, the Lien Flag will be displayed to the left or higher on the list before the Bankruptcy Flag. In the example below, because the “Corporate Defendant” Flag is set at order number 40 and the “Client Portal” Flag is set at order number 220, Corporate Defendant appears before Client Portal.

A flag provides a hyperlink to the information it represents, if appropriate. If you click on the Liens Flags, for example, you will be taken to the Lien section at the bottom of the Summary Screen where a summary of the lien information is displayed.
