Tip #141 - Use the “Merge Cases” Tool to Merge Two Cases Into One

Occasionally, you may find that two matters (cases) have been created in SmartAdvocate inadvertently (i.e., two intakes were done for the same case). Since you are not able to delete a case from the system, you may want to use the “Merge Cases” tool to combine the two cases into one. Here’s how:
 

  1. Click the “Tools” button on the tool bar. Then, select “Copy/Merge Cases”.

2. Click the “Merge Case” check box.

3. Select the case on the left that you want to merge “From” and select the case on the right that you want to merge “To” (note: The case on the right will be the resulting case that remains).

4. Click the “Merge" button at the bottom left of the screen to begin the merge process.

After the merge is complete you will see an appropriate dialog box indicating the process has been completed successfully.
