Tip #283 - Enter Multiple Insurance Types as Needed
It is very common to have multiple insurance types at play in your regular PersonaI Injury cases (e.g.,Health, MedPay, Collision, Liability, Medicaid, PIP, No Fault, UM/SUM, etc.). You must enter each insurance type and the insured party individually, even if multiple parties are covered by the same policy.
This is especially important in order to document payments made by the carrier (e.g.,MedPay, No Fault) and also to be able to correctly enter negotiation and settlement information. You may need to keep an eye on total payments made for medical services (e.g., PIP, No Fault) while the matter is pending and separately document settlements from those policies.
Also, it is important to enter the different policies and coverage amounts, since you may be negotiating and settling against each policy separately, and at different times during the pendency of the matter. On the Negotiation/Settlement Screen, you will need to indicate which party/carrier you are negotiating with vis-à-vis each policy. This is vital for your Negotiation Follow Up Dashboard, Settlement Dashboards and Settlement Reports to work properly.
