Tip #93 - How to associate a note with a party or contact in the case.
You can have a note that is entered associated with (“Related To”) a specific party or contact in the case. This is particularly useful if your firm tracks multiple plaintiffs in the same case file. You can edit an existing note and apply the “Related To” option as well.[1]
To apply the Related To option when adding a new note, click the dropdown for “Related To” and select from any contact(s) in the case. The “Select from Plaintiffs” and “Select from Defendants” options will present just those contacts to choose from.
“Related To” can also be applied to existing notes. Simply edit the note and then proceed as above.
If the “Related Contacts” column is not displayed, you may want to use the “Show/Hide Columns” option to add it to the grid on the Notes page.
[1] The edit option is only available for notes that are ‘manually’ entered. Some notes that are automatically added by the system, such as outgoing or incomings text messages or task completion notes do not have the edit option.
