Tip #44 - How to Use the Medical Records Request Follow-Up Dashboard
The “Medical Records Requests (External)” dashboard(will be renamed “Medical Records Requests Follow-Up” in our upcoming release)is used to do your follow-up on Medical Records Requests. The dashboard is automatically populated with outstanding records requests that were made (created and generated) from the Medical Provider Screen.
(Please note: If you generate a request from a template by selecting templates on the tool bar or from the Documents Screen by selecting Create Document then selecting a template, that request will not populate on the dashboard).
Upon accessing the dashboard, it automatically defaults to “me,” i.e., to display medical records requests assigned to the person accessing the dashboard. You can change the “Assigned To” to display requests assigned to another staff member by selecting the name from the drop-down or select “All” to see all outstanding requests for the entire firm.
The Follow-Up Date column will show the date specified for Follow-Up when the request was created (or the current Follow-Up Date if it was modified as explained below).
If you have contacted a provider and need to update the request information (e.g., change the follow-up date because the records have not been received, etc.), edit the request by clicking on the edit button (pencil) and update as appropriate.
Tip – Sort your requests by follow-up date by clicking on that column heading. This will display your requests in “Follow-Up Date” order. You can also sort by provider name by clicking on the Medical Provider column heading. This will show all requests grouped by provider – making it more convenient to do all follow-ups for a specific provider.
You can regenerate a request from the Medical Records Requests Follow-Up dashboard by clicking on the ‘Re-request’ button (e.g., If the Medical Provider reports that they have not received your initial request, you can use the Re-request function to regenerate the request from the dashboard without having to recreate the request from the Medical Provider screen).
The Re-Request function will ask you to Confirm the Follow-Up Date when the dialog box appears.
