Tip #314 - Use A Critical Comment To Notify Staff Of Graphic Photographs In The File

The Critical Comment feature is a great way to notify staff to get, or update information in the case. It can also be used to warn of certain things that others should be aware of. Examples: You may want to use this feature to notify staff of a missing client, or notify staff not to discuss case information with a client’s spouse, etc.

Benefit of the Feature: Staff will see the notification the moment they try to open a case, without having to take any special steps.

How To Create A Critical Comment:

  1. Click the Critical Comment tab on the case’s left menu

  1. Click the Add Comment button

  1. Create the critical Comment

  1. Click the Save button

The critical Comment is automatically active once created, and will pop up when you try to access the case.

One specific critical comment I would suggest you use, is for cases that may have graphic photographs that some individuals may find disturbing, e.g., graphic photos of a client’s injuries or accident scene, etc. Since all case pictures are visible on the photographs page, a staff member who is particularly sensitive to graphic images may unknowingly access the page without warning. Adding a Critical Comment in the case is a good way for users to be forewarned before accessing such images.
