Tip #31 - The Funding Button in SmartAdvocate

If your firm is like most PI firms, you probably often have clients who obtain Settlement Funding Loans. Of course, such loans are liens against any recovery the client may receive. Were you aware that SmartAdvocate has a “Funding Button” built-in that can be accessed from the Lien Tracking Screen?

The “Funding Button” (Add Funding Request) defaults to Plaintiff Servicing Company/Allstate Cash Advances LC, LLC, a funding company which provides Pre-Settlement and Post-Settlement funding loans at extremely competitive rates. Furthermore, this feature allows you to generate the request documents right in the case and allows you to easily send the documents to the funding company right from the case in SmartAdvocate.

Clicking the ‘Add Funding Request’ button will display a dialog box which allows you to select the plaintiff, the type of loan (Pre-Settlement or Post- Settlement), loan amount, etc. The Lienor (Plaintiff Servicing Company/Allstate Cash Advances LC, LLC) is already pre-selected by default.  Clicking the “Generate Request Document” button will generate the appropriate documents required by the funding company, i.e., Funding Application and Document Checklist. The Document Checklist includes Accident/Police Report, Medical Report (ER/MRI/Operative Report), Bill of Particulars (if applicable) and Summons & Complaint (if applicable). Clicking the “Auto Select Documents” button will automatically select the required documents if they were previously saved in the case. You can also “attach” documents from outside of SmartAdvocate that may be located on a local or network drive using the “Attach” button or use the “Select” button to select specific documents from the case. Using either the “Attach” or “Select” options will list the respective document on the Edit Funding Request page.

Selecting the “Save” button will save the lien as a Funding Request.

Selecting the “Generate Request Document” will generate the required Funding Application.

Select the “Save and Email” button to save the funding request to the case as a lien and generate an email addressed to Allstate Cash Advance LC, LLC with the body of the email populated with the required information from the case and the appropriate documents included as attachments to the email.
