Tip #315 - Use Case Browse To Add A Task To Multiple Cases At Once

In previous versions of SmartAdvocate, if you needed to add the same task to multiple cases, the only way to do this would be to create a WorkPlan, and then add that WorkPlan to all the cases. So, for example, if you needed to add a task for your Case Managers to send witness subpoenas for all cases scheduled for trial, or to prepare Plaintiff Fact Sheets for all your Elmiron cases, you would have to create a WorkPlan, and then add that WorkPlan to all those cases. Not ideal.

The 2024 version of SmartAdvocate will allow you to use Case Browse to locate all the appropriate cases, and then use MASS UPDATE to assign the task to all cases on the list. A much easier solution!

A few things to remember when using the Mass Update option in Case Browse to assign tasks in bulk:

  1. The Task Requester and/or the person to whom the task is assigned can either be set as a specific person (i.e., specific staff member) for all the tasks in all cases, or the Requester and/or Assignee, can be set to a specific role in the case.

  2. You can choose to have an email sent to either the Requester and/or Assignee of the task.
