Installation of Plugins for SmartAdvocate Cloud



Please Note: The Word Template Editor (to create and or/edit Document Templates) is only compatible with Microsoft Windows. You must use a PC to create and or edit Document Templates. Generating a finished document from a case file can be done on a PC or MAC.
Before you proceed with adding the plugins and registry files to your computer, the SmartAdvocate website must first be added as a Trusted Site in Internet Explorer or Edge. This should be done even if you use Chrome or another browser to access SmartAdvocate. Open Edge or Internet Explorer. (The images that follow were taken from Edge; the process is similar in Internet Explorer.)

  1. Click on the 'Settings' icon, and then 'Internet options'.

  1. The 'Internet Options' panel will open. Click on the 'Security' tab, the 'Trusted sites' icon, and the 'Sites' button.

  1. The 'Trusted sites' panel will open. Add the following website address and click 'Add':

  1. The website should then appear in the 'Websites' box. Click on 'Close'.



  1. You can then proceed with the instructions below.


The Outlook, Word Template Editor and Word Merge Cloud plugins are accessible from the following web sites:

  1. To install the plugins, click on each file/hyperlink listed above.

  2. Depending on the security settings on your computer, you may be prompted to allow access to download the respective files. If prompted, click 'Allow' or 'OK'.

  1. A zip file will download on your computer and will be displayed in the bottom left corner of your computer screen. Note that the location and appearance of the downloaded file may vary depending on the browser and browser version you are using.

  1. Click on the downloaded file and a new window will open.

  1. Each of the zip files you download will contain two files, a 'setup' file and a 'registry' file. You will need to run both files for each of the three zip files you download. Double click (launch) each file and click 'Run'. It does not matter in what order you run the files.

  1. Follow the system prompts, accepting all defaults.



  1. Repeat steps 1 through 6 for all three plugins and all three registry files.

NOTE: These files must be run or installed on each individual workstation or computer.
Depending on the security settings on your individual workstation/computer, you may need Administrator rights on the subject computer to be able to install programs, including these plugins and registry files, on that computer. If you are not comfortable performing the foregoing installation procedures please consult your IT professional.
