SmartAdvocate allows you to do a global, system wide search to locate a note in any file in the system. There are instances, for example, when you know you have created a specific note, but may not remember the specific file in which the note was created or when that note was created. The "Notes Search" feature under the "Tools" section will allow you to do a global search to locate the note.

  1. Choose "Tools" from the top task bar
  2. Then choose "Notes Search" from the dropdown list of menu items

The "Notes Search" selection screen will be displayed:

  1. You may limit your search to specific dates if you wish. To search for Notes regardless of date, click on the down arrow to the right of both the "Date From" and "Date To" boxes and click on the "Clear" buttons.
  2. You have the option of limiting your search to specific Note Types, Case Types, and/or Staff.
  3. Enter a Note Text (i.e., word(s) for which you want to search).
  4. Click the "Apply Filters" button to execute the search.

If there is text contained in any Notes in the system that satisfy your search criteria, a list of cases will be displayed. In the example below, the search term used was "medical records AND new york hospital" (without the quotation marks), which resulted in the list displayed.
