The System Parameters (Internal) page contains a list of various settings of your SmartAdvocate system, primarily relating to server and network configuration. Unlike the main System Parameters page, which deals more with interface settings that can be changed to suit the particular needs of your firm, this page generally contains settings that are fundamental to the system and are set when your system is installed; they should not be changed unless your firm's underlying network or server setup changes. If you have any questions regarding any of these parameters, please contact the SmartAdvocate support team at support@smartadvocate.com.
Accordingly, the only settings from this page that will be described here are those that can be safely changed at will:
[Contacts] List of the locked contacts (John Doe). Those contacts will not be editable by any user: This parameter contains a selected group of the contacts in your system. Any contact in the group cannot be edited; attempts to edit the Contact Card will fail and cause a notification to appear that the contact is locked. The purpose of this parameter is mainly to contain a list of stand-in default defendants, John Doe figures, who are used in single-incident cases so that the automatically generated SOL information is available to the case staff until the actual defendant is found, named, and added to the case in place of the John Doe. Since these John Doe figures are not real people or entities, their personal information should never be changed for any reason, even accidentally. In order to edit these contacts, should that ever be required, it will first be necessary to unlock them from this page.
[Notes] Notes have subject. When set to true notes in SmartAdvocate will have Subject field: In order for Notes to have a Subject field, this parameter must be set to True. If set to False, or left blank, no Subject field will be available.
[Task Settings] Prompt For Optional Note Upon Task Completion: This parameter should be set to True if you want a user to be prompted to create an optional Note upon completion of a Task. If set to False, no such prompt will be provided and the user would be required to add a Note manually, if desired.
[Case] Allow editing of the case name: This parameter determines whether the name of a case can be edited by a user. If set to True, the user will be able to edit the case name from the Case Summary page. If set to False, the user will not be able to do so.
[Case] Allow editing of the case number: This parameter determines whether the case number can be edited by a user. If set to True, the user will be able to edit the case number from the Case Summary page. If set to False, the user will not be able to do so.
