The Retainer Staff Management administrative page allows you to assign staff members to cases of a certain type automatically once the cases are retained by your firm. This allows you to efficiently pass cases along to your dedicated pre-litigation team for that case type. Retainer staff management is accomplished by adding rules to the SmartAdvocate system. Each rule consists of the case type it applies to, a staff member, and a role; the staff member will automatically be assigned, in the role chosen, to cases of that type once they are retained. Any staff members assigned to the case at the time it is opened, such as an intake paralegal, will be automatically removed from the case when it is retained if there is at least one retainer staff rule applying to that case type. The Retainer Staff Management page contains a table that lists all of these rules. The table has columns for the case type, staff and role, as well as a column for comments, and an action column with an Edit icon and a Delete icon. You can create a new rule in this page. The add/edit form for rules has dropdowns for the case type, staff member, and role, and a text input field for comments. Although you can add multiple staff members to a particular case type, you can only add one staff member at a time. If you wish to add several staff members to be automatically added to a particular case type, each one must be added separately.
