How to export & download data from Filevine

Please note that the success of any data migration depends primarily on the quality of the data set provided to us. Before exporting your information from Filevine, you should ensure that your data is consistently formatted, well organized, sufficiently backed up, and stored securely. If you are not confident, it is recommended that you consult with your SmartAdvocate representative before proceeding.

Please note: The process is identical for all reports; the only thing that will change is the report you are selecting.

Contacts

  1. Please navigate the Report Builder through the Menu > My Reports > Build Reports.

  2. On the right hand of the page, select List of Contacts for all Contacts or List of Clients for Clients only.

  3. By default, the report builder will include relevant columns; you can customize the report by adding additional columns by selecting them and then clicking on the right arrow to add or the left arrow to subtract those fields

4. Once you have selected all the desired fields, you can hit next at the bottom right-hand side of the page if you would like to filter by specific criteria or you can directly hit run report if you are finished.

5. After pressing run report, the report builder will show you your results on a screen where you can review them. If there are missing fields, go back to add the necessary columns or click on the Excel icon at the bottom portion of the page to prepare the export.

6. A hyperlink will pop up in the middle of your screen with the name of your report press on it to begin downloading to your computer.

Matters:

  3. By default, the report builder will include relevant columns; you can customize the report by adding additional columns by selecting them and then clicking on the right arrow to add or the left arrow to subtract those fields.
