SmartAdvocate Document Text Search feature will allow searching for specific text within a document that is generated, attached or imported to a case file in SmartAdvocate.
Please bear in mind that there are specific requirements for the text search feature. Also, depending on your setup, it may be necessary to install additional and/or third-party applications.
You can perform a text search on any document type providing there is an appropriate IFilter installed.
Here are the requirements to install the document text search feature:
Microsoft SQL Server 2012 or later is required.
Documents may have to be moved from their current location and stored on the same server as the Microsoft SQL Server.
Additional third-party software for indexing of specific file types may be required (IFilter).
Free IFilter software is available for Microsoft Word and Word Perfect documents.
Free IFilter for PDF files is available from Adobe, but it only supports SQL Server 2012.
If you have Microsoft SQL Server 2014 or 2016 and need PDF file indexing you will need to purchase “Foxit PDF IFilter - Server – Production” from Foxit software. https://www.foxitsoftware.com/products/pdf-ifilter/
Once the feature is configured, you can perform a Document Text Search by going to Tools > Document Search and filter by document text:
