These are the most interesting updates from the latest release of SmartAdvocate.
AI Document Summary (Monthly Cost)
AI integration allows creation of document summaries, translations, etc.
AI Prompts for document manipulation can be configured in the Picklist Maintenance.
System parameters allow to fine-tune AI, including ability to control if users can update prompts.
AI Voice File Transcription (Monthly Cost)
AI can also be used to transcribe audio files (voice messages, call recordings, etc.)
AI Email/Note/Text Rewrite (Monthly Cost)
AI Prompts for text rewrite can be configured in the Picklist Maintenance.
Internal Messaging
New built-in internal messaging has a functionality similar to email, but it is internal to SmartAdvocate. The notifications about new messages appear instantly in the top right corner. Internal messages can be case related or non case related.
Internal Notifications
All notifications that were previously send via email now have an option to delivered as internal messages in SmartAdvocate. For each notification you can select Email and/or Message option.
Document Versioning
SmartAdvocate now has ability to keep a history of document versions. This feature needs to be enabled in in System Parameters.
Note that Document Versioning is only available if Document Handler is used. So, server clients that are using Document Launcher would need to switch to handler to take advantage of this feature.
Word Template Editor in the Browser (Mac and Windows)
Now Word templates can be edited directly in your browser. Simply click Edit Template button on the Admin → Document Templates page and fully functional Template Editor opens.
Document Merging in the Browser (Mac and Windows)
This new feature eliminates the need for Word Document Merge add-on.
When generating a document you can now select “Generate in Browser” option. When this option selected the dynamic merging of the document (prompts, selections, etc.) will be done in your browser without a need for you go have Word Document Merge add-on installed.
After server side generation, your document will be opened in a new tab in your browser to complete merge process.
Accounting Beta
Our Accounting feature was built from scratch, and is fully integrated into your SmartAdvocate system. Information can be entered in a case or in the accounting module itself. Invoices can be linked to vendors, as long as they have been entered into SmartAdvocate and Settlement checks can be linked to settlements.
Teams for Case Assignments, Tasks, Appointments, etc.
Teams can now be defined, and entered anywhere that Users are typically used, ie: Case Assignment, Task Assignment, Appointments, etc. Also, Teams do not affect your firm’s licenses.
Video Preview
Videos can now be previewed on Documents screen as well as on Photo/Video screen (used to be Photo screen).
Phone-Friendly Form Sharing
Updated form sharing is now phone-friendly. It adapts to your screen size and has both Defendant and Plaintiff selections.
Expanded Gender/Pronoun Support
New picklist was added to support gender and pronouns configuration. Appropriate pronouns will be merged into documents when using corresponding merge codes.

Partner Law Firm Portal Expansion
Added ability to share selected documents in Partner Law Firm Portal. You can share documents based on document Sub-Category or Tag.
Added ability to configure columns available in Partner Law Firm Portal.
Auto-Refresh Option in Dashboards
Customizable Dashboards (SmartMetrics Dashboards) can now be configured to auto-refresh. To configure refresh rates, go to Picklist Maintenance → Web Dashboard Configuration.
Case Browse - Mass Add Tasks
Add Task option was added to Mass Update menu on the Case Browse Results screen.
Show Appointments from Related Cases Option
SmartAdvocate already has an option to show Documents and Notes from related cases. In this release we’ve added an option to show Appointments from Related cases.
When this option is turned on Case Calendar will show appointments from current case as well as appointments from all related cases.
Shortcuts to Close (Save) Edit Dialogs
Most of the edit dialogs can now be closed by pressing Alt-S or Ctrl-Enter. The shortcut works the same way the Save button works - information is saved and the dialog is closed.
Scheduler Link Enhancements
Updated scheduler now allows to specify:
Time frame available for scheduling
Specific time slots available for scheduling
Offset to prevent scheduling appointments to close to current time
